There are two magazines I regularly purchase. One is Make, and the other is Computer Arts. At fifteen bucks an issue, computer arts isn’t cheap but well worth every penny. A while ago, Ben Pieratt of FWIS Design wrote a great tutorial on making “flat pack” toys. That’s paper craft to the rest of us. If you’re a designer, it’s nice to see one of your creations occupy three dimensions. Not artistically gifted? That’s okay. Build one to scare desk weasels away from your office.
Getting started can be a bit overwhelming so I created some blank templates to get you started. You can find them under the Skizamajigs tab a couple of things to keep in mind before you start:
- Print them on card stock or Bristol board
- Once you create one and become familiar with the structure, customization is easy..
- If you make one, send me a picture. I’d love to see it..
Enjoy,

/ July 11, 2007This is not a good picture at all.. I had a big hi-res one but dont know where it went.
Anyway, “little joe” used to hide everywhere… in the bathroom, on trophies, hiding behind things on people’s desks… Then he grew a family!
I like the baby one, it has a teddy bear with Joe’s face and a teddy bear nose. haha.
